CAP’s Northeast Region Glider operations at Farmers Pride Airport in Fredericksburg, PA is the pulse of the soaring season for many Cadets and Senior Members. Each year hundreds of CAP Cadets experience the joy of soaring and learning to fly Gliders. All staffed by the best Volunteers of our Aviation/CAP Community.
Chartered by the US Congress in 1947 one of CAPs core services is Emergency Services. With over 550 Aircraft CAP provides inland Air Search & Rescue and Disaster Relief flights crewed by trained CAP Volunteer Pilots, Mission Observers and Mission Scanners.
As a CAP Volunteer I put to use my years of aviation experience as a Professional Pilot and Flight Instructor. Each year CAP Pilots are evaluated on the knowledge and skills to continue with the privilege to operate CAP Aircraft.
CAP Aircraft are maintained to commercial standards receiving 50, 100 hours and annual inspections. A dedicated group of Volunteers are assigned by each CAP Wing to administartively assist with the monitoring and scheduling of these crucial assets.
Aerospace Education and Emergency Services.
You do not have to be a Pilot to be a CAP Volunteer. Members come from all occupations. We are volunteers with a purpose to serve our communities through CAP’s core missions of Cadet Programs, Aerospace Education and Emergency Programs.
